![]() The latest work from ATAMIRA Dance Company features the premiere of full-length work Whakairo by Moss Patterson, and Symbole et Réalité by New Caledonian guest choreographer Richard Digoue. Energetic and captivating, At the heart of Whakairo is an exploration into the traditional knowledge of whakairo (the Maori art of carving). Whakairo reveals unexpected discoveries in the struggle to make a mark in the world today. Symbole et Réalité is a fusion of indigenous pacific cultures, with Kanak choreographer Richard Digoue from New Caledonia. Symbole et Realitie is the culmination of a cultural exchange between New Caledonian choreographer Richard Digoue and Atamira as part of the New Caledonia New Zealand Season 2007 Whakairo rubs from Friday 28 September to Monday 1 October at the Concert Chamber, Auckland Town Hall at The Edge®.
