Jack was a founder of Atamira in 2000 and has been involved variously as a producer, choreographer and dancer. He graduated from Unitec School of Performing and Screen Arts in 1998 and has since taught, created and performed throughout Aotearoa and the world as a professional freelance dance artist. He travelled to Europe in 2001 as a DanceWEB Scholar, participating in the Impulstanz, Montpellier and Prague Fringe Festivals. He also created works in Malta (2002) and Taiwan (2005).

Jack devises his own personal choreographic projects as Jack Gray Dance with works including Solace (2003), Apparent(2005), View from the Gods (2006), "Electrify Walk Bride" (2007) and Tuawhenua (2008).
